Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 22, 2026

Traject (“Traject,” “we,” “us”) is a driving-navigation app for iPhone. This policy explains what data the app handles, why, and who it is shared with. We built Traject to collect as little as possible: there are no accounts, no advertising, and no selling of your data.

1. Information the app handles

Location

With your permission, Traject uses your device’s location (including precise GPS) to show where you are, plan and follow routes, find stops along your way, and warn you about traffic and weather ahead. Location is used while you are using the app and, during active turn-by-turn navigation, in the background so guidance continues when your screen is off. Location is processed to provide these features and is sent to the mapping, weather, and fuel-price providers listed in Section 3 to fulfill your requests. We do not use your location to track you across other apps or websites, and we do not sell it.

Voice guidance text

To speak turn-by-turn directions aloud, the text of an instruction — which may include street or place names — is sent to a text-to-speech provider (see Section 3) and returned as audio.

Diagnostics & crash data

To find and fix crashes and bugs, Traject sends diagnostic reports to our error-monitoring provider (Sentry) when the app encounters a problem. These reports include technical information such as your device model, operating-system version, app version, and the technical details of the error. They are not used to identify you personally and are not used for advertising.

Data stored only on your device

Your saved vehicles (“garage”), trip and search history, and app preferences are stored locally on your iPhone. This information stays on your device — we do not receive it or store it on our servers. Deleting the app removes it.

What we do not collect

2. How we use information

3. Third-party services

Traject relies on the following providers to deliver its features. When you use a feature, the relevant request (for example, your location or a search term) is sent to that provider and handled under their privacy policy:

We are not responsible for the practices of these providers; please review their policies. We share only what is needed to perform the feature you requested.

4. Data retention

On-device data (garage, history, preferences) remains until you delete it in the app or remove the app. Location and search requests sent to the providers above are retained according to their policies. Diagnostic/crash reports are retained by our error-monitoring provider for a limited period for debugging and then deleted.

5. Your choices

6. Children’s privacy

Traject is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region) and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

7. Security & international use

We use industry-standard measures such as encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connections to protect data in transit. The providers above may process data on servers located in the United States or other countries. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.

8. Changes & contact

We may update this policy as the app evolves; material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above. Questions about this policy or your data can be sent to privacy@trajectmaps.com.

Traject is currently distributed for testing via Apple TestFlight. This document is a good-faith description of our data practices and is not legal advice.
